Through the Student Council, students organize and support various drives for community needs. Teaching our students the importance of volunteering and of giving back to others fosters the values of character and humanitarian service.
Tuttle School student council has three elected officers: president, vice president, and secretary. These officers campaign, make speeches to the student body and are voted into office by their fellow students.
Community-Based Instruction (CBI) at Tuttle starts in our youngest class and continues through our transition class to provide real-life experiences in the community. Through CBIs, students are able to generalize skills taught in school in their natural environment.
Birthday Celebrations CBIs: Bowling, Ninja and Gymnastic Gymnasiums, Restaurants, and Trampoline Parks
Seasonal CBIs: Holiday Target shopping for Lily’s Toy Box, Dewberry Farm, Livestock and Rodeo, and Taste of Texas
Other CBIs: Arboretums, Donation Centers, Grocery Stores, Museums, Occupational offices (such as dentist, postal office, fire station, etc.), Restaurants, Theaters, and Zoo
Tuttle students enjoy a variety of extracurricular activities throughout the year. Our extracurricular activities include Art Show, Donuts for Dad, Field Day, Go Texan Day, Grandparents Day, Holiday Social, Homecoming Football Game and Dance, Muffins for Mom, Prom, Science Fair, Sports Banquet, Spring Program, Talent Show, and Thanksgiving Feast
Through Community-Based Vocational Instruction (CBVI), Students are provided opportunities to develop and improve job readiness skills, learn appropriate work behaviors, and establish a positive work ethic. Students achieve success by mastering skills that bolster self-esteem and independence.
In Work Force, students acquire the skills to make them successful in life for whatever path they choose. We start with skills including sorting, assembly, packaging, filing, stocking shelves, bagging groceries, and various fine motor tasks. We have different stations that the student can work in including office, housekeeping, recycling, gardening, and grocery.
With day and overnight camp offerings, our students are provided fun, social opportunities similar to those of their siblings. For many families, the summer camps provide breaks (respite services), often a first-time experience for parents and siblings.
